Beatrice is a fine art graduate of Newcastle University, a qualified Cathedral stone mason, and a former student of the European Lettering Institute in Brugge. In 2024 she became a QEST Emerging Maker, supported by DBR Limited, London. Her understanding of sculptural form, love of words and belief in ‘truth to material’, led her to pursue work with letters, language and inscriptional carving. She has designed and carved letters for public and private commissions throughout the British Isles, including Scarborough’s South Cliff statues and the Stamford Poetry stone, and exhibited work with the Lettering Arts Trust and the Scottish Lettercutters Association. Her work is primarily in stone and wood.  Beatrice is also a writer and the author of Stone Will Answer, published by Harvill Secker in 2023.
