Gus Fisher has been working with lettering in stone since 2006. He has a historic education and early training with many influential letter designers of his generation. Through his practice, Gus enjoys pushing contemporary boundaries and embracing modern technologies, while drawing on both traditional and innovative materials to create truly unique pieces. Over the past 20 years, he has built a varied and expansive career, working across numerous materials and taking on a wide range of projects. A particularly rewarding aspect of his work is the close collaboration he develops with clients, ensuring that each memorial he creates is a fitting and meaningful tribute to the individual commemorated. Gus is deeply committed to producing works that endure, yet evolve beautifully over time—a natural quality inherent to the materials he chooses. In addition to memorials, Gus also produces work for art galleries, with pieces featured in several prestigious venues in Edinburgh. His recent projects include The British Normandy Memorial, Edinburgh University, the Usher Hall, Dawyck Botanic Garden, and Horatio’s Garden at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.
