My work involves the visual elements of shape, pattern, texture and light.

I aim to create letterforms that reflect the meaning of the text and the physical properties of the chosen material, ie stone/slate/steel.

I am drawn to creating designs that have a strong element of contrast. The sharp edges of letterforms v-cut into a pock marked piece of stone. Classical letterforms with geometric proportions combined with a sketchy, playful letterform. Polished reflective surfaces against dense, clawed, matt surfaces. Soft curves and sharp angles. An element of surprise.
